A step closer to growing natural teeth

Can You Regenerate Your Natural Teeth?

Scientists are Stepping Ever Closer to Achieving Their Goal

A professor from a prestigious overseas college has spent the last 13 years studying ways to regrow teeth; roots and all. How does he propose to do this? Well in part adult stem cells taken from gum tissue. After that there is a large string of scientific words that basically equate to:

Gum tissue + tissue from mice = a cellular amalgamation creating artificial tooth primordia.

The results of the latest tests showed that the researchers were able to grow teeth containing dentin, enamel and viable roots. And the viable roots were and are an important part of the research. The professor who led the research was in fact looking for artificial teeth, roots and all.

While we wait for science to eventually create viable new (biological) teeth, roots and all (which, by the way will be an amazing step forward for dentistry) at Tewantin Dental Centre we have a range of cosmetic dental treatments to help you right now.

Good cosmetic dentistry is about more than having good looking teeth. Cosmetic dentistry is still dentistry; it is still about treating your oral health. At Tewantin Dental Centre we provide our patients with the best quality dental care available—for us dentistry in any form is about ensuring you have the best oral health possible.
We offer a range of cosmetic dental options from Porcelain Veneers to Crowns and Bridges. Our skilled and friendly professionals will sit down with you to ensure that you are given the treatment that best suits your needs.

Effectiveness of Dental Crowns

While we wait for science to provide us with artificially created teeth, there are crowns and bridges (there are also dental implants). Crowns are an ideal treatment method for repairing cracked or broken teeth. Crowns are made from porcelain and are moulded to match the natural shape and appearance of the tooth.

Thanks to our CEREC technology we are able to create the dental crown the same day.

At Tewantin Dental Centre we have the pioneering CEREC technology. This exciting piece of technology allows us to give you custom made restorations in one appointment. No more having to have repeated dental appointments to get your dental restorations!

More on CEREC Technology

During your appointment, you’re overall oral health will be assessed. This assessment of your oral health will let us know what the best dental restoration for your oral health is. And this dental restoration will be designed and manufactured so you can leave us with your dental restoration in place.

The type of dental restorations we use the CEREC technology for are:

  • Crowns
  • Inlays
  • Onlays

What’s Involved with Dental Crowns?

Usually made out of porcelain, crowns are colour matched to your natural tooth colour. Your porcelain crown will be placed over your tooth after it has been cleaned and readied for the crown.

Treatment Option - Dental Bridges

At Tewantin Dental Centre we would recommend a dental bridge if you’re missing one or more teeth. A bridge is essentially a serious of dental crowns that are attached to the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. It is important that you see your dentist if you have missing teeth. If left alone, the teeth on either side of the gap will twist in an attempt to cover the gap. You don’t want that. That leads to whole lot of other health issues.

It may seem extreme, but by looking after your oral health you are also looking after your overall health.
